Raising birds in our class

We are really interested in birds in our classroom. We have two cockatials named Pink-Toe and Snuffkin. We hand-raised them in our classroom.

They were only two weeks old when we became their parents. We had to keep them warm in a special box because they didn't have any feathers. We helped our teacher feed them special bird baby food. They looked like little dragons and made hissing sounds.

Our babies grew very quickly and they are very tame. They sit with us when we are reading and they are learning to speak and copy tunes.

We all help keep them clean and fed and happy.

We have also raised chickens from eggs using an incubator.

We had to turn the eggs twice a day and check the temperature. After about twenty days we could hear cheeping sounds and our babies cracked out. Some of the eggs didn't hatch but most did and now they live at our teachers house and lay eggs. They are really big now.
