WHO IS INVOLVED?
Putting on a show involves a lot of people. They each do different jobs to make it a success. Learn about their jobs and try our quiz.

THE CAST
The cast is a number of actors that perform in a play, show or
production. They sometimes sing and dance, depending on the type of show.

THE DIRECTOR
A director's job is to show the actors what to do on the stage. There are other directing jobs, like choreographer, who teaches the dances. The musical director learns the songs and teaches them to the performers and makes sure they come in on time.

We interviewed our director, Mrs Howe:

"I have been involved with so many shows over the years both at
Centrestage and Peninsula Players.

I have lots of varied roles: director, musical director, a cast member, done a little bit of choreography, front of house and being a dresser, which means you help the cast get into their costumes. I have played the piano in the small and big orchestra.

The Cosmos show was quite easy to put together but I had to read through it heaps of times. You have to visualise things in your head to work out where you want people to move to. Sometimes you have to do it to see if it works. The important thing in a show is that people know when to move to certain places."

ITEM DIRECTORS
For most shows there is only one main director, but in our show there were five other item directors. They were our teachers. They helped us by directing our song and dance items.

THE CREW
The crew are the people who work on a film set or production. Our show had teachers and children as the crew to work the lights, video camera, computer, and work the PA (public address system). The PA is where all the sound comes out for the audience to hear. We used lots of
microphones as well, and somebody had to make sure they were turned on and off at the right time.
