1. The Web challenge is open to New Zealand primary, intermediate and secondary school students only – years 1 - 13. 2. The Animation/Digital Video challenge is open to New Zealand primary, intermediate and secondary school students only – years 1 - 13. 3. The Video Game Design challenge is open to New Zealand intermediate and secondary school students only – years 7 - 13. 4. The entrant’s supervising teacher must authorise the final submission. Teachers agree to do this by including their name and contact details in the online entry form. NetGuide will contact the teachers associated with the winning entries to confirm that the rules have been followed. 5. Entries from students in a team or class must be of the same school age level (eg, year 10). Primary students can enter as a team of three or as a class. Intermediate and secondary students can enter as a team of three or as an individual. Team entries must consist of three students. A class must contain a minimum of 10 students. All entries must have a supervising teacher. 6. In cases where the schools are very small, a class entry can be made up by a group of students; if there is a mix between primary and intermediate levels in the class or team, the entry must go in under the highest class level within the class or team. All entries must have a supervising teacher. 7. All copyright, trademark and privacy laws must be obeyed. You must cite the source of your material (such as images). 8. Entries with plagiarised content, offensive material, and material not produced by the students will become invalid. Students must do the research and writing, and be involved in the creation of their content. Web sites must be based on current school curriculum subjects that the students have learnt or are learning this year. 9. The judges’ decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into before or after the competition winners have been announced. 10. Each entry must only be entered once. Entries which are resubmitted after the closing deadline will be disqualified. Entries submitted from previous challenges will also be disqualified. 11. It is important that every field on the submission form is completed including: Title of entry, URL address, subject, names of participating students, classroom name or team name, name of school, name of supervising teacher and contact details. 12. To protect students, no personal email addresses are allowed on the sites entered. If a Web site requires an email address, students should use one given to them by their school or create a temporary one just for the Challenge. 13. Competition uploading closes on September 25th 2009 at 5pm. Students are advised to submit their site early to avoid the last-minute rush. We are not responsible for entries not completed in time. Entries resubmitted after the closing deadline will be disqualified. Teachers and students are wholly responsible for testing their entries. 14. Winners will be announced in the December issue of NetGuide, on sale from November 30th 2009. 15. All entrants consent for their entry to be displayed for promotional purposes for the 12 months following the closing date of the competition. 16. Any submissions not meeting the above criteria will automatically become invalid. 17. Home schooled students may enter following the entry categories as shown on the online registration form.
PLEASE NOTE: THE CHALLENGE CLOSES SEPTEMBER 25TH 2009 AT 5PM. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
