TVNZ 6 prides itself on being a place for Kiwi families to learn which is why we are thrilled to partner with the Netguide awards again in 2009. We know it’s important that New Zealand’s talented young people, highlighted in this award, are given every bit of help to develop skills that will be needed to shape their futures.
As you already know, the TV screen isn’t the only place to watch what’s going on in our world anymore and TVNZ is at the forefront of this digital era. We are already aligned with YouTube, Bebo and TiVo, so you can receive our content and offerings on a multitude of screens; from your television and computer to cellphones and ipods.
TVNZ 6 is a wholesome, stimulating family-oriented place with a strong and youthful New Zealand flavour, providing educational and informative programming that is entertaining. Our main focus is to help grow the New Zealand of tomorrow and through our channel we want viewers to be inspired and stimulated, so that TVNZ 6 is seen as a cherished part of Kiwi families.
We have recently welcomed the return of Animal Academy for a second season. Presented by Olympic Gold Medallist and “feverish hound lover” Sarah Ulmer with Wildlife Park Ranger Jeremy Maguire, this show is guaranteed to entertain and delight animal lovers.
Another key highlight in the TVNZ 6 portfolio is In Between. The issues based show for tweens by tweens, is back for a second series, dealing with all the tough stuff that tweens want answers to but don’t know who to ask. Fronted by Julia Wright and Jeremy Hollis, In Between tackles the tricky topics, including depression, drugs and step-families.
Meet the Locals has become a staple element to TVNZ 6 too. The show is a collection of bite-sized documentaries that focuses on this country’s unique wild places, historic sites and native species presented by Department of Conservation spokesperson, Nic Vallance. Keep an eye out for some extra Meet The Locals episodes specially formed for Conservation Week (13th – 19th September).
